ALL I EVER WANTED WAS TO BELONG TO A FAMILY

Gina Williams grew up with parents from the Stolen Generation. She had always felt an urge to assert her Aboriginality and has used her music as a healing process and a vehicle to tell her story.

'All I ever wanted was to belong to a family. I'm firmly commited to rewriting the script. This language is not just an Australian history, it's an Indigenous history; but there's enough space for everybody. Developing connections to land and each other is powerful.'

This story was collected by the Centre for Stories for the Empathy Museum's 'A Mile in my Shoes' installation as part of Perth International Arts Festival
