We are very excited to announce our new mentoring project for early and emerging writers of Indian Ocean heritage. This project is funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

This project follows on from our very successful mentoring program undertaken two years ago for early and emerging writers of African heritage. One of the writers in this program, Rafeif Ismail, went on to win the Deborah Cass Award and has appeared at various literary festivals across Australia and other participants continue to write and publish. We hope to emulate similar success in this second mentoring program focused on early and emerging writers who are permanent residents or Australian citizens of Indian Ocean heritage residing in WA. The Indian Ocean Rim countries are Bangladesh, Union of Comoros, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

Entries open 20th June 2018 and close 30th July 2018. Click here to download a PDF containing more information and entry form.
