Because of Her, We Can is a series of stories collected for NAIDOC Week 2018. They’re inspired by the NAIDOC 2018 theme which celebrates the role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play – at community, local, state and national levels.

The collection of this story was funded by the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority

This series also included stories from Brianna Ozies, Tim Muirhead, Joan Foley and Gina Williams.

Nina Boydell grew up on a farm near Esperance on the south coast of Western Australia and has worked in a range of community development settings. An awareness of the injustices facing Aboriginal people has motivated Nina to learn about the history and cultures of Aboriginal people throughout WA. This has led her to form both friendships and professional relationships with many Aboriginal women.

This story was produced by Anna Forrest.
