Bread & Butter is a monthly dinner and storytelling event designed to make you think deeply about social issues. A new storyteller every month will share a personal story with 40 guests in the dining room at the Centre for Stories. Come along and make new friends, hear a new story, and get to know your community. Compulsory: open ears and an open mind. This month's storyteller: Matthew and Daniel Bacon.

QUEER RESILIENCE

Matt and Daniel Bacon will be sharing stories about self-love, identity, and queer resilience. These two remarkable young men are natural storytellers bound to leave you with a lasting impression, and many laughs along the way. Profits from this event will be donated to the WA AIDS Council. If you would like to donate further, a donation box will be present on the night.

About Daniel

"My name is Daniel Bacon and I was raised on a farm in the Swan Valley and have lived in Western Australia my whole life. Since a young age I have had a love for people. I like to use my experiences and story as a platform to encourage others to be able to share and accept theirs. As someone who identifies as transgender, I truly know the importance of self-acceptance and self-love in the journey towards becoming your most authentic self, and being truly content. Some of my passions include travelling and writing poetry. I will continue to do both in the future, and to also pursue a career in marketing and advertising. I try to remain grounded and grateful in all I do. I will forever strive to change the world and all those I share it with for the better."

About Matt

"My name is Matt Bacon, I’m 25 and work in health promotion for the WA AIDS Council. I consider myself a very passionate person, something that is reflected by my job and my studies in sexual health and sexuality. I am a gay man and am very proud to be. My whole life I have always loved meeting people and socialising to the point that at school my report would show, ‘Matt is an enthusiastic participant in class,’ or ‘While Matt is a pleasure to have in class, he is somewhat disruptive.’ Growing up, I think the one thing that could have helped me was knowing I wasn’t alone and that other people felt like me. This is what has contributed to my love of sharing of stories."
