Book Launch: History & the Poet By Robert Wood

Please join us for the launch of a new collection of essays by Robert Wood, History & the Poet. 

History & the Poet focuses on Australian poetry now and its relationship to history, philosophy and politics. Published by Australian Scholarly Press, the book offers an entry point to our contemporary moment and makes a case for why poetry continues to matter. 

History & the Poet will be launched by Victoria Laurie and will be a celebration of poetry featuring readings by local poets Iris Fan Xing and Amy Hilhorst. 

Books will be available for purchase. 

ROBERT WOOD has had work published in numerous literary journals. He was previously Commissioning Editor at Cordite Poetry Review and has worked as a kitchen-hand, trade unionist, and cultural liaison officer. He is a 2017-2018 Copyright Agency Emerging Critic with the Sydney Review of Books. Wood lives and works in Western Australia. 

VICTORIA LAURIE is an award-winning journalist. Her career began in ABC radio and TV current affairs, followed by print journalism for The Bulletin, The Australian & The Weekend Australian Magazine and other publications. She has been a Walkley Award finalist three times, is a recipient of an Equal Opportunity Media Award and numerous state awards.
